North Carolina Republicans in the state legislature have proposed six amendments to the state constitution, and one of the most dangerous ones is aimed squarely at working people and families.
SB 1082 would enshrine "right to work" in the NC Constitution. North Carolina is already a right-to-work state. It has been since 1947. There is no reason to write it into the state constitution except to make it harder for future generations to repeal. Right to work laws are anti-union and anti-worker. They make it harder for workers to come together and defend their rights, leading to lower wages and more dangerous working conditions.
The Senate has already voted. But the NC House still has to vote on each amendment separately, which means we can still stop them from reaching the November ballot.
This is what people power looks like. Fill out the form below to send a message to your NC House Representative demanding that they vote NO on SB 1082. After you submit, stay tuned. We’ll be following up with opportunities to call your rep and make sure this amendment dies.
